On International Day of Solidarity with Trans Prisoners, CAPE mourns and rages against the systematic murder and mistreatment of and disproportionate numbers of trans people in the prison system. We rage against the national and global transphobia which legitimates this and the prison system itself. We stand in solidarity with all trans prisoners and people.
Take action by writing to trans prisoners through Bent Bars and Smash IPP. Donate to Books Beyond Bars UK, and to Action for Trans Health, which has a solidarity fund for trans prisoners. Challenge transphobia in all forms, including when it comes from so-called prison abolitionists such as Richard Garside of the CCJS.
