Plan for new K-shaped houseblock with adjacent gym extension

Based in Barby near the A45 Daventry Road, the category B prison’s 5.2m precast concrete perimeter wall will also be extended to include the new wing, which will lift take capacity from 664 to 1020 inmates.

Galliford Try will build the house block from pre-cast modular units helping it to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating when it is audited against the BRE check list.

HLN Architects has designed the roof pitch of the houseblock to become more efficient by being steeper and reducing the quantity of reinforced concrete.
