Documentary Screening + Discussion with special guests: “Empty Cages Collective”, supporting people for action against the Prison Industrial Complex.

We are initiating a prison abolition group in Leicester for some discussion and action about the current prison expansion in the UK, the planned mega prison in Leicester, the situation within the current victorian prison in Leicester and… well prison, wtf?

To get people together, we’ve arranged a movie night with some follow up discussions and info materials at Duffy’s in Leicester at Tuesday, 6th December from 7pm.

We are screening a recent documentary on the US prison industrial system as continuation of slavery.

Following the movie, we will hold a workshop on a weekend day in January to have some deeper discussion about the UK context and to see if there’s potential for a regular group and if yes, where it would go.

It looks like we’re a pretty mixed and random bunch of people at the moment, so if you’re critical of keeping people in cages for years, we would be happy to have you join us.

To give you a taste, the documentary is very much like “13th” by Ava DuVernay.
